Finishing off the last of my Warriors of Chaos army , I wanted a centerpiece. Since Dragons are hard to work into Chaos armies, I went with the chimera.
This is the second chimera for my army and for this one I had the chance to finally paint a model I've been dying to paint:
Mierce Miniature's "Terror of Fortriu, Chimaera"
(my painting)

This was easily my favorite model when I got back into the hobby and I was lucky enough to get my hands on one...and then didn't paint it out of fear that I'd mess it up. Only recently was I confident that my painting skills would live up to the model.
The model is incredibly detailed; there are 18 claws, 8 horns and a lot of pinning involved

The dragon head was the most fun of them as it was scales and I'm used to those with layering and blending. The lion & goat were a bit more tricky as doing fur can quickly turn into a mess. I was using light coats and some washes to add colors (near eyes, cheeks, mouth)
The wings were primarily airbrushed with man light coats of washes; purples, reds, dark blues. I'm happy how they came out.
The claws were frustrating. The model is amazing, but probably not 100% designed for the wear and tear of a 2 day, 5 game GT. (plus transpo.) I've lost a few and they all had to be glued in individually. Ugh....worth it, but ugh.
I'm glad their manticores have built in claws!

No army is ever truly finished, just retired. With the amazing time at Broad Side Bash, I'm hanging up the Nurgle Warriors and moving on to my next project.
Hint: Dragons!
